The Traveling Literary Jukebox Experience brings together writer Ken Szymanski and musician Derick Black as they journey across the state, blending the power of words and music.
Szymanski shares stories from his three nonfiction books, touching on topics such as family, fatherhood, love, loss, sports and more. Black–a singer, guitarist, and English teacher–performs heartfelt Americana (originals and covers), inspired by legends such as John Prine, Jason Isbell, and Johnny Cash. Together, the writer and musician create stories that put a movie in your mind with a live soundtrack to match.
Both Szymanski and Black have been featured on Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Wisconsin Life” and have over two decades of material and performing experience to draw from. Their accessible, humorous, and heartfelt performances connect with audiences of all ages, and this time, you’re in the driver’s seat with a choose-your-own-adventure in story and song.
